thoughts come
like a train
down the tracks
almost a roller coaster
on time
sometimes a little late
yet they seem ahead of themselves
like an engine
ahead of its carriages
full of individuals
going purposely to work
even if a little tired
ready to express
to arrive
a little light
at the end of the tunnel
and to roll
into another familiar station
it's not mine
but it won't be long
i know this journey so well
i know it's faces
though we've never said a word
our eyes have glanced at each other
on occasion
but we've never smiled
one day we will say hello
on the express train
we will express ourselves
a little light
at the end of the tunnel
before our station comes
and it's too late
again
